Retreat & Event Venue in Crete
A place shaped by the land, the Greek sun, and shared presence
Set among hilltop olive groves in North-West Crete, just 30 minutes from Chania, MaGea opens onto a wide, uninterrupted view of hills, mountains, and the sea. The landscape here does not ask for attention—it offers a sacred space; a sanctuary where you are welcome to stay, rest, create, or simply breathe.
Retreats at Magea
Retreats at MaGea are residential and unfold within the shared life of the place.
MaGea has become a sanctuary for creatives, artists, and retreat facilitators looking for more than just a place to stay. They seek an environment that supports depth, continuity, and care - for the mind and the quality of connection. We resonate beautifully with facilitators who value intimacy, group safety, and a pace that prioritizes integration over intensity.
Retreats at MaGea are held in small groups, with 6 to 10 participants offering the most supportive scale for shared living and depth of work. 12 participants is considered a comfortable maximum.
Spaces for Practice & Shared Life
Life at MaGea moves naturally between indoor and outdoor spaces, following the rhythm of the day and the needs of those gathered here.
Practices and gatherings often take place on open terraces with wide views across the surrounding landscape. The openness of the land tends to support presence, inspiration, and a sense of ease.
Inside the house, shared living spaces are used for practice, reflection, or conversation. The large kitchen is at the heart of daily life, supporting shared meals and nourishing retreat practices.
In the evenings, outdoor areas become quiet gathering spots, often centered around the warmth of a fire. In a simple but meaningful way, MaGea’s way of being creates the perfect surroundings for tending to both mental and physical well-being.

How Retreats Live at Magea
Shared Living
Life at MaGea follows a shared rhythm.
• Bedrooms and bathrooms are shared, with arrangements agreed during planning
• The house is used cooperatively, with care for shared spaces and for one another
• Room allocation is shaped together in advance, in a way that supports the group as a whole
.
Group Size & Capacity
MaGea is best suited for small, intimate retreats.
• Ideal retreat size: 6-10 participants
• Comfortable maximum on site: 12 participants
• Groups of 13–15 are considered only exceptionally, by prior written agreement, using shared arrangements.
MaGea is a lived-in home that opens its doors to retreats. It is not a conventional hotel or a venue designed for high volume. We love to support leaders who feel comfortable with simplicity, cooperation, and a relational way of being with others.
A Gentle Note on Expectations
MaGea tends to support retreat leaders who feel at home with:
• clarity rather than complexity
• cooperation rather than hierarchy
• relationship rather than luxury
When this way of working resonates, the place often offers a quiet sense of ease - not because everything is structured, but because the rhythm of the home and the retreat move together.
Events and Non-Residential Gatherings
Alongside residential retreats, MaGea occasionally opens to gatherings that do not include overnight stay.
Alongside residential retreats, MaGea occasionally opens for gatherings that do not include an overnight stay. These moments are approached differently; we invite people and their passions to take shape in close relationship with the land, the house, and the shared moment we are creating together.
So far, we have been proud to host: clay workshops, herb-picking sessions, Ecstatic Dance, celebrations of International Women’s Day, chanting circles, and many more.
Our doors are literally as open as your creativity.
